Find out how ReSource helps nonprofits around the Greater Cincinnati area.
Lighthouse Youth Services' Transitional Living Program
Lighthouse Youth Services' Transitional Living Program serves the youth of Greater Cincinnati by providing a home for young adults who are homeless and/or aging out of foster care. The young adults in the program do not have the money to furnish their new living spaces. Often times, the youth in the program are relegated to disposable plates and cups when preparing food. That's where ReSource comes in. ReSource recently received a large donation of dishware sets from Wal-Mart and were able to place over 40 dishware sets in Lighthouse's Transitional Living Program. Many of the youth in the program now have dishes they can call their own.
Great Miami Valley YMCA
The Great Miami Valley YMCA has been blessed with so many wonderful items from ReSource! "As a non-profit, we are always looking for ways to cut costs that won't impact those we serve. ReSource has allowed us to add supplies and furnishings in so many areas that we typically would go without, due to the high cost of these items. I really appreciated all those who donate items to make this a reality for our organization! We really can't thank you enough!"
Little Brothers-Friends
Did you ever think what it might be like to celebrate your birthday alone? For many area seniors that is their plight. However, Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly, a Cincinnati nonprofit, make sures that at least 200 local elderly people don't spend their special day alone. Each year volunteers from the Birthday Visits program find just what they need to put a smile on the faces of their elderly friends at ReSource. Jewelry, stuffed animals and other items donated by local and national companies make their birthday gift bags very special.
Wesley Community Services
A shredder no longer needed at Procter & Gamble helped Wesley Community Services keep client information confidential. Wesley's shredder broke down and funds were scarce for a replacement. ReSource received a high capacity shredder from P&G just in time to benefit Wesley Community Services. WCS provides its clients who are elderly and or disabled with transportation to medical appointments and job sites (35,000 transports annually) and also provides those in need with meals on wheels. These programs require that client information be shared between office staff and the transport drivers or meals delivery personnel. What happens with transport and delivery route schedules containing confidential client information at the end of the day? Thanks to P&G, these internal documents can still be shredded to protect client's privacy.
Central Montessori Academy
Central Montessori Academy has been using the resources of ReSource for more than 15 years. "The dollars we have been able to save on office equipment, school supplies, and educational materials has directly impacted hundreds of children at our school. The additional benefit of the informational and practical workshop offerings has helped our staff to become better in supporting the mission of our program and in working to achieve the vision we have for the education of young children. ReSource has made a difference in helping us to make a difference,” said Laura Saylor, principal of Central Montessori Academy.
The Community Pregnancy Center
The Community Pregnancy Center supports at-risk teen moms who do not have the resourcesphysical and emotionalneeded for expecting mothers. Expecting mothers are responsible for completing a 15 week "Mom2Be" training program. In 2010, 48 women successfully completed the program and received jewelry to recognize their accomplishments. Although it may not seem like much, it truly means a lot to young expectant mothers. The jewelry they received was part of a donation by Avon to ReSource.
Healthy Beginnings Inc.
Healthy Beginnings reaches out to under-served women in Greater Cincinnati who are experiencing unplanned pregnancies and do not have insurance. Recently, Healthy Beginnings turned to ReSource to upgrade their outdated furniture "We had run down and inadequate furniture and equipment," said President Donna Phelps. "I found an abundant supply of very nice used furniture. This enabled me to provide my employees and patients with a quality environment."
Partners in Prime
Partners in Prime is dedicated to enhancing the lives of the elderly in our community. In 2009, Partners in Prime suffered a flood at their Hamilton, Ohio, location, shutting it down. That's when they turned to ReSource. They were able to find many of the supplies and building materials necessary to refurnish their building at a minimal cost. The money they saved by using ReSource helped them to resume operations sooner than expected. More recently, Partners in Prime found several tables at ReSource which they use for their senior services programs. These programs focus on the wellness of the elderly, helping them to strengthen their physical, social, educational, emotional, and recreational well being.
LifePoint Solutions, Inc.
Twenty-five beautiful gray lateral file cabinets no longer needed at Convergys are now at LifePoint Solutions, a nonprofit providing comprehensive counseling to more than 5,500 youth and adults in our community. Having the files will alleviate a safety issue since closed client files were stored in two foot banker boxes that were too heavy to lift. Now, LifePoint staff members are safer and client files are much easier to access thanks to the generosity of Convergys, a long-time ReSource supporter.
St. Joseph School
Lockers once located in a property under going deconstruction by Al Neyer Inc. are now providing middle school students at the Archdiocese's oldest parish, St. Joseph School with a secure space to store their books, coats and school supplies. "The lockers provide students with a sense of ownership and the opportunity to develop organizational skills," said Reverend Reynaldo S. Taylor (Father Rey) of the Parrish in Cincinnati's West End. Thanks to Al Neyer Inc. for making a difference in by supporting ReSource's reuse program.
Rosedale Manor
Rosedale Manor is a not-for-profit nursing facility serving primarily the elderly population of Covington, Kentucky, and surrounding communities. They have a long heritage of providing a life-enhancing environment that promotes the well-being of their residents85% of whom are Medicaid patients. Recently, they received a new patient from a local hospital. Her husband of 60 years wanted to spend the night with her because they had never spent one night away from each other during their marriage. That night they pulled together furniture for her husband to sleep on. The following day the director of Rosedale Manor saw a sleeper chair on a ReSource flyer which is emailed weekly to all members. Rosedale picked up the sleeper shortly after seeing it and the patient's husband was able to sleep on a Nurture brand sleeper chair that night. Thank you to the sleeper's donor, ReSource's long-time supporter, Loth, Inc.
