Note From The Board Chair
Occasionally each of us finds something that simply makes total sense to us. When you find such a thing, you may feel so strongly about it that you become motivated to add your energy to its success. ReSource is that source to me.
Redirection of Valuables: In my career as an architect, I have known the extreme waste (see page 6) that can exist in our world. Our society can too easily throw away the old for the experience of the new. With the strength of the sustainability movement, a discarding value proposition no longer makes sense. I must take responsibility for each and every reuse opportunity that comes to me. Connecting the discarded valuables from the for-profit world to the not-for-profit world through the conduit of ReSource makes sense to me.
Community Connection: I am proud of our community. I have enjoyed the many pleasures of living in Cincinnati, and credit the successes of my wonderful children with the best of Cincinnati. Yet I know of the great needs of many people and organizations within us. As Cincinnati's ONLY Non-Profit focused on Building Stronger Non-Profits, ReSource is the best opportunity for me to become part of the daily solution. ReSource does not simply redirect furniture destine for a dump into highly valued new life, we free up our customers burden of limited resources so they can continue to focus on their core purposes: helping those in need in our community.
Learning for Strength: In learning we have the ability to become more of who we already are to each other. Teaching is the greatest opportunity to learn. ReSource had taken the responsibility of becoming a source of desperately needed learning for non-profits. Our Building Blocks seminars continue to fill a void in the Building of Stronger Non-Profits. We connect business teachers with non-profit leadership. Of all the value created by ReSource, this is the area I am most proud of. We are living the edict to not only providing "fish for those in need," we are teaching those in need "how to fish."
We have much work to do. We have vision. We have passion. And most importantly we have purpose to fill the awesome needs within our community with the connections that simply make sense. The gap in need is expanding in our new economy with new limits and regulations. We have not yet realized the breadth and depth of this developing gap. For this reason I endeavor to deliver a heart-felt call to you:
Message to those with means: PLEASE join our mission; provide your time, talent and treasure to the purpose and results of ReSource.
Message to those with needs: Please receive the good that we intend to deliver to you to Build Stronger Non-Profits in Cincinnati.
